As you consider our invitation, please review the information below and do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the research team with any questions or concerns. Study
Description
This study focuses on the impact of the defunding of discretionary federal grant programs for Minority-Serving Institutions. Accordingly, over the course of this approximately 60-minute interview, we will ask participants a series of questions to better understand the impact of this decision on people, programs, and possibilities at Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
Key Considerations
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and independent of any current or future professional services or benefits. You can partially address or skip any question entirely during the interview or stop at any time without penalty. Regardless of your responses or whether you choose to withdraw from the study, all interview participants will receive a small token of our appreciation — a $40 prepaid Visa gift card. Please note that to receive this compensation, participants will need to disclose the following information: name, address, and date of birth.
Risks or Discomforts
Although we do not anticipate this study posing any substantive risk to participants, we recognize that some questions may elicit discomfort as we seek to better understand the full range of consequences associated with the loss of these public programs. To reiterate, you are welcome to skip any question or withdraw from the study at any point. Additionally, despite taking all necessary steps to protect your privacy, there is always a small risk that confidentiality may be compromised. To reduce this risk, only research team members approved by the university's IRB will have access to participants' identifying information. We will also apply pseudonyms and mask specific identifying details about participants and their respective campuses upon transcribing the interviews. Relatedly, any information collected in the scope of these interviews will not be shared, presented, or published in such a way that willfully compromises participants' confidentiality.
